THE COMMUNITY LIBRARY | LUCKNOW
SELF INITIATED
STUDIO - PRACTICE
2021
Why - The Purpose ?
A library as an educational incubator is a space that not only sheds light on conventional means of knowledge but also encourages its users to interact, share ideas and grow together. Can we envision a 21st-century library that encourages exploration, creation and collaboration between communities?
Through the intervention of community library (the context of community and social work), the main purpose was to understand how various layers of religious, political, social and cultural aspects needs to be looked upon and realized before one gets into the process of designing and building up solutions. In addition, to get an understanding of what role does each professional in the process has, and the approach they'd take to resolve the area of concern.

Learning & Analysis :
1. An attempt was made to collectively work with a few in between discussions with Sarah (social design researcher), during the initial studio phase. A certain sense of clarity was achieved on the how a professional from non architecture background would see the problem and approach.
2. With the implementation of framework - approach, I realized that the flow of approach was rigid. In addition, during the process, although there was a constant effort of seeing the problem from different lenses, my role as an architect came out slightly strong in the final output, unknowingly.

3. Hence, to get a further clarity and understanding, the same point was taken forward during the final review discussion.
